On Saturday I took part in the first Peterborough parkrun. Held at Ferry Meadows every Saturday at 9pm (starts at the visitors center),
it's a great event for both elites and first time runners. It's
completely free of charge to enter, all you do is register on the
website, print off your allocated bar-code (laminate it if you wish),
turn up on the start line with your bar-code, run 5k, when you cross the
finish line you collect another tag, take both tag and bar code to a
member of staff to scan in your time, then wait with fingers crossed
that you got a Pb. Saturday rolled around and I wasn't really sure how much I had in me, in previous post's I've been saying how unwell my lack of medication has been making me, but I turned up and decided to give it my all. Sarah was very lovely and offered to pace me round in the hope of beating my Pb. Unfortunately this didn't happen and I was 20 seconds out. Why do I always slow down on the last km!! I also may of thrown up on the finish line, but my sickness went away for a few days after that. Time: 33.09 Place: 170th (60th female) out of 210 runners Category: 6th in age group (F20-24) not a lot of young females ran that day! The morning was really well organised, ran on time with really helpful marshals. I'll definitely be back this week. A Pb is firmly in my sights. | I | . | ||||||

I love, love, love Parkrun! I'm planning on trying some new ones out soon so might get to Ferry Meadows as it's not too far away. There's a new one in Huntingdon now as well that I want to check out. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the first one I had done, can't believe how well organised they are. If you ever do get across let me know it would be lovely to say hi :)
DeleteI've got a couple of friends living in Hampton and I'm trying to encourage them to give it a go so will give you a shout when I succeed! :)
